SSL Checker
Verify a domain's SSL certificate, issuer, and expiry date.
Demo tool - results are sample data, not a live lookup.
About the SSL Checker
An SSL/TLS certificate is what turns http into https, encrypting traffic between visitors and your site and showing the padlock in the browser. Certificates are issued for a fixed period and must be renewed before they expire - an expired certificate throws a scary browser warning that drives visitors away.
This tool reads a domain's certificate so you can confirm it's valid, see who issued it, and check exactly when it expires - before your visitors do.
How to use it
- 1Enter your domain (no https:// needed).
- 2Run the check to see the issuer, validity window, and days until expiry.
- 3Set a reminder. Or use auto-renewing certificates - well before the expiry date.
What it checks
- Issued to
- The domain(s) the certificate covers, including any wildcard or SAN entries.
- Issuer
- The certificate authority that signed it (e.g. Let's Encrypt, DigiCert).
- Valid from / until
- The certificate's active window. After 'until' it's expired.
- Days remaining
- How long before renewal is due - renew comfortably ahead of zero.
Frequently asked questions
What happens when an SSL certificate expires?
Browsers show a full-page security warning and block the site until it's renewed, so uptime and trust both take a hit.
How often do certificates renew?
Let's Encrypt certificates last 90 days and are usually auto-renewed; commercial ones often last a year. Automation is the safest option.
Does a valid certificate mean my site is secure?
It means traffic is encrypted and the domain is verified - but it doesn't fix application vulnerabilities. Pair it with security headers and updates.
