Affiliate Program Terms
These terms govern participation in the MagicWP affiliate program. They apply in addition to our Terms of Service. By applying to the program you agree to them. An overview of how the program works is on the affiliate page.
1. Joining the program
Participation is by application and every application is reviewed by a person. We may approve or decline any application at our discretion. If we decline yours we will tell you why, and you may apply again after 30 days.
Approved affiliates are assigned a referral code by us. Codes are not transferable, and we may change a code where it is misleading or conflicts with our brand. Changing a code does not affect referrals already recorded.
2. Referral links and attribution
Your referral link is magicwp.io/r/YOURCODE. Clicking it stores an identifier in the visitor's browser for 90 days.
- Last touch wins. If a visitor clicks more than one affiliate's link, the most recent one is credited.
- Attribution is locked at signup. The credit is fixed to the account when it is created and is never reassigned afterwards, in either direction.
- Existing accounts do not count. A click by somebody who already has a MagicWP account creates no referral, whoever's link it was.
- Attribution depends on the visitor's browser accepting and keeping the identifier. We cannot credit a referral we were not able to record.
3. Commission
You earn 20% of the net amount of each paid, non-zero invoice raised to a customer you referred. Net amount means the amount charged after any discount or coupon and before any tax. Invoices of zero — free trials, fully discounted invoices — earn nothing.
The rate, the window length and the hold periods in force at the moment a commission is created are recorded against that commission and used to settle it. A later change to the program does not alter commissions that already exist, in your favour or ours.
All amounts are in US dollars.
4. The earning window
Commission is earned for 12 months, measured from the referred customer's first paid, non-zero invoice — not from their signup, and not from your click.
This is a period of time, not a number of invoices. A customer on a monthly plan produces roughly twelve commissions across the window; a customer on an annual plan produces one, on a full year of revenue. Invoices paid after the window closes earn nothing.
5. Hold periods and approval
A new commission is pending for 45 days on a monthly plan or 90 days on an annual plan, measured from the date the customer paid. The hold exists so that the common refund has already happened before the money becomes payable.
When the hold elapses and the invoice is still paid, the commission becomes approved and counts toward your available balance. Pending commissions are visible in your dashboard but cannot be withdrawn.
6. Payouts
- Payouts are requested by you, from your affiliate dashboard, once your available balance is at least $100.
- Requesting a payout locks the approved commissions in it to that request. Commissions approved afterwards accrue toward your next one.
- We open a support ticket to agree the payment method. Payouts are made manually and in US dollars only. Any transfer fee, currency conversion or tax on your side is yours.
- You are responsible for declaring and paying any tax due on what you earn. We do not withhold tax and we do not act as your employer.
- You may have one open payout request at a time.
7. Refunds and chargebacks
If an invoice is refunded or charged back, the commission for that invoice is reversed and stops counting toward your balance. This applies whether the commission was pending or approved, and whether or not it is attached to an open payout request — an open request is reduced accordingly.
Where a commission has already been paid to you and the underlying invoice is later refunded or charged back, or where a referral is found to have been obtained in breach of these terms, we may deduct the amount from a future payout. We will tell you before we do, and we will never make your balance negative.
8. Prohibited conduct
The following void the affected commissions and may end your participation:
- Self-referral. Signing up under your own code, or arranging for someone to sign up on your behalf, for an account you control or benefit from.
- Bidding on MagicWP brand terms in paid search, or running ads that imply you are MagicWP.
- Coupon, deal or cashback sites, browser extensions, or anything that injects a referral into a purchase the visitor was already making.
- Unsolicited email, spam, or posting your link where it is off-topic or against the rules.
- Misrepresenting the product, our pricing, or our uptime and performance, or making claims we have not made ourselves.
- Automated, incentivised or otherwise fake clicks and signups.
- Domains, handles or content that impersonate MagicWP or are confusable with it.
We flag referrals that look like self-referrals for review before anything is paid. A flag is not an accusation; it means a person will look at it.
9. Suspension and termination
Either of us may end your participation at any time. If we suspend or remove you, you stop earning on new invoices immediately, and referrals already recorded stay recorded. Commissions you have already earned and that are not affected by section 7 or 8 remain payable, subject to the minimum payout.
Participation in the program creates no employment, partnership, agency or joint venture between us, and does not entitle you to represent MagicWP.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms and the program parameters as the program develops. Changes take effect when published, and apply to commissions created after that point — never retroactively to commissions that already exist. Continuing in the program after a change means you accept it.
Questions about any of this: reply to any ticket in your dashboard, or contact us from the contact page.
